You may have noticed I haven't posted for a month. That's because I have been busy packing and getting ready to move! I am finally moving back home to California! Whoohoo!
I have spent my life moving (read California Here I Come for the story), and I am quite ready to settle down and find a permanent home, so I am looking forward to going back to the state I love best, even with all it's issues and silliness.
Since this is a rant blog I do have to do a short rant on how much of a pain in the butt moving is, even when you're moving somewhere you want to go. The actual physical act of moving is pure, unadulterated back breaking work. But it has it's good points too and I posted a few of both recently on my retro baby boomer pop culture blog.
Yes, I have been totally stressed, buried in boxes and irritated by the mind numbing process of changing addresses and getting rid of the accumulation of junk - yet again. Why is it that you get rid of junk only to replace it with more junk over the next few years? I think humans have a bit of pack rat DNA.
ON THE UPSIDE: I'm going home. I'm going back where my oldest and closest friends live, where the sun shines gently instead of with the heat of Hades, where it's okay to be a little weird and where my heart is. California Here I Come.
